Holly-Hunter

Holly Hunter is a well-known American actress, producer and director. Her work has been recognized for her roles in films like Broadcast News The Firm The Piano The Incredibles and The Incredibles. The actress won numerous awards, including an Oscar for the movie Piano. She started her career as an actress on Broadway and Off Broadway. Passionate about acting since her childhood, she performed Helen Keller in a play during the 5th grade. Her mumps left her blind and deaf in the one ear, but she did not allow this to stop her from becoming an actress. At college, she was a theatre student and then moved from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to New York City in pursuit of her dream. Hunter was trapped in the lift of the playwright Beth Henley when she met her. They worked together to write Broadway Crimes of the Heart that marked the debut of Hunter on Broadway. Following her move from Los Angeles she tried to find film roles, and was able to secure an acting role as a support in Swing Shift. In the three decades since her time in Los Angeles she has appeared featured in a variety of series and television films. Holly Hunter received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and she also received an award called the Women in Film Lucy Award.
