Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire (February 27, 2010 (February 27, 2010) Toronto ON). Pointe Claire is a small community that is located on the West Island, which is part of Montreal's Island. It is the West Island, to those who have never heard of it, is a vast section that extends from Lachine all the way west. Amanda Brugel was born there although her time in the city wasn't long. Brugel grew in Courtice in the town of Oshawa. She wanted to become an elite dancer, however because of a huge development spurt, she exceeded the size of her dancing partner. In a report by Toronto Star, she revealed that, in her heels, she stood 6 feet 1 inch tall. As soon as I was able to outgrow male friends, I stopped. In the case of Brugel it was the guidance of an instructor in drama from her high-school that led her to start acting. Her teacher suggested she audition to play the character of Anne in their annual school production. After a few auditions her options, she was eventually the lead for Anne of Green Gables. She was awarded the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship to go to York University's Theatre Program, where she graduated on the 20th of January, 2000. She graduated with a bachelor's degree in Fine Arts. Through the years since, Brugel has been offered roles in more than 60 productions across the small and big screens attracting the most attention after she landed the role of Rita in the award-winning television series The Handmaid's Tale (pictured below). Brugel was the only Canadian actor on the show in Season 1 of the show and was not seen much.
